SMARTBOX Forms Partnership With The American
Red Cross
Richmond, Va.-based SMARTBOX, a leader in the portable self storage industry has formed a partnership with the American Red Cross to enhance its disaster-relief services and assist the local chapters in the 34 markets SMARTBOX serves.
SMARTBOX will provide disaster-relief assistance by storing supplies and transporting them to American Red Cross distribution points in times of natural disaster. For example, in the event of an emergency such as a hurricane, the American Red Cross will contact SMARTBOX, which will deliver its portable storage containers to affected areas. The containers will be loaded with pallets of shrink-wrapped supplies and distributed to Red Cross shelters in need, greatly expediting the process the Red Cross currently uses.
“We’re honored to be ‘on-call’ for the American Red Cross in assisting those in need across the country during an emergency,” said Mike Lowe, president and CEO of SMARTBOX. “It’s our hope that we can help the Red Cross do all the wonderful things it does even better.”
SMARTBOX also will provide services and assistance to Red Cross chapters in the areas it serves, such as Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, New Orleans, San Antonio, and Los Angeles. In addition, the portable self storage firm will provide a benefit to Red Cross employees, volunteers, and retirees, offering a discount for their moving and storage needs.
“The Red Cross serves such an invaluable role in our community; it is the epitome of community service,” Lowe said. “We are excited about the opportunity to do anything we can to help out.”
SMARTBOX, named one of the Franchise Business Review’s best franchises, helped deliver more than 50,000 items to victims of Hurricane Katrina.
