Door To Door Storage Collects Gifts For Troops
Door to Door Storage, Inc., joined with Operation Iraq: The Spirit of Christmas to help with efforts to collect items desired by the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The goal is to send 8,000 gift boxes. Upon learning of Operation Iraq’s need for portable storage containers in which to store the collected items Door to Door immediately donated the delivery, pickup, and storage of four containers. Door to Door employees also volunteered to help load the containers with the collected items.
“This is the sixth year for Operation Iraq and is an all volunteer, nonprofit effort,” said Ruth Ann Young, Operation Iraq founder and director. “We appreciate the help of individual and business community members such as Door to Door Storage and couldn’t achieve what we do without this type of involvement.”
Military advisers and veterans at Operation Iraq compile a list of “most desired items” as requested by the troops. This year’s top items on the list included: appreciation artwork from children, gloves, white socks, travel size toiletries, plus individual servings of snacks and leisure time materials. Lip balm, eye wash, and AA batteries were a few of the other items on the list.
“Door to Door is proud to be a part of this effort to show support for our troops,” said Annette Jacobs, president and CEO of Door to Door Storage, Inc. “We encourage members of our community to participate by donating to Operation Iraq.”
